12 years after establishing this blog, I'm on sabbatical again and blogging, old school...
I was hoping to do some sort of artist residency as I did in Fall 2008 at North Cascades National Park, but almost every residency I applied to was cancelled due to Covid 19. So I've put together my own work/play retreat, using three AirBnB rentals, with backpacking adventures in between stops.
Stop #1: Mountain Cabin near Westcliffe, Colorado. This place has a gorgeous view of the Sangres range.

Backpacking trip #1: Sangres: tentatively, Veneble Pass, Groundhog Basin, off trail along the Sangre crest to Fluted Peak, Horn Lakes, return via Horn Creek.
Stop #2: Tiny house near Durango, Colorado.
Backpacking trip #2: Needle Range of the San Juan Mountains: tentatively, Endlich Mesa, Trimble Pass, Columbine Pass, Chicago Basin, and points beyond.
Stop #3: Loft apartment near Crestone, Colorado. If you've never experienced Crestone, you need to visit. It's a unique place with a unique and unconventional spirit. I like it mostly for its proximity to some of the best mountain hiking in Colorado, but its other qualities are charming, too.
